Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday greeted United Business Group (UBG) for sweeping annual elections of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and hoped that the new body would play its role as a bridge between the business community and the government in accelerating the economic growth in the country.

In his greeting message to UBG Central Chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik, the Prime Minister said that a number of concrete steps were being taken to increase volume of country's overall exports besides addressing issues of business community in consultation with the FPCCI.

He also congratulated newly-elected President Engr Daroo Khan Achakzai and hoped that he would endeavour to help address the concerns and problems being confronted by businessmen.

He further said the government will provide all-out support to business community and remove bottlenecks hampering speedy development, asserting that step were also being taken for successful implementation of export package announced by the government in an effort to jack-up country's exports.

He said that Pakistani products could not get their proper market share due to high input cost, assuring that government was taking remedial measures to this effect so as to make the Pakistani merchandise compatible in the global markets.

While thanking to the Prime Minister, Iftikhar Ali Malik said the government should offer special package of power and gas tariffs for rapid industrial growth on the pattern of China. As a result of high tariffs and taxation, cost of production is increasing and cannot compete in global market thus badly hampering export substantially, he added.
